Villa Hansa - Joglo living area

Villa Experience

Villa Hansa - Dining pavilion

Villa Hansa’s kitchen is staffed by two cooks who provide delicious meals from morning until night.

The villa offers an extensive suggestion menu of delicious home-style meals featuring Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes, with a wonderful selection of vegetarian and children’s options.  The cooks are also more than happy to tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements.  A stay is not complete without sampling the wonderful chicken curry with a tantalising urap (mixed Balinese vegetables with shredded coconut and chilli) or pisang goreng (fried banana) with ice cream.  The fresh seasonal fruit served at breakfast time is divine.

Groceries and beverages are charged at market price (plus a 20% handling fee which is subject to service and tax at the prevailing rate).  Guests are requested to provide grocery money in advance, and the staff will do the shopping and keep the receipts for reference.  To make the most of the kitchen and give staff time to shop, it is a good idea to plan meals the evening before.

Villa Hansa - Joglo living room

One of the greatest experiences of staying in a villa is the personalised service provided by a dedicated staff.  Villa Hansa has a team of professionals led by a long-serving villa manager who also acts as the villa’s spiritual advisor, arranging the temple ceremonies that form part of the villa’s day-to-day rituals.  Feel free to ask him about everything from meal times to organising a traditional dance performance at the villa.  You can also talk to him about the level of service or staff presence you prefer.  For example would you like staff visibly present to serve refreshments throughout the day or just to have them available to serve at meal times?

Villa manager

Villa Hansa’s friendly manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa.  His job is to oversee and coordinate the staff and property and to assist guests during their stay.

The villa’s private cooks are trained in local and international cuisine and are in charge of the market shopping and preparation of all guest meals.  They will happily prepare dishes from the villa’s suggestion menu, as well accommodating special requests and dietary requirements.

Villa attendants

Attendants look after the daily cleaning and tidying requirements at the villa.  The same team are skilled waiters/waitresses and will assist the kitchen at mealtimes.

Garden & pool

Gardeners maintain Villa Hansa’s lush gardens and swimming pool.

Security guards

Villa Hansa is kept safe and secure 24 hours a day by security staff working on shifts.

Villa Hansa - Families

The family friendly advantages of a villa holiday are many, including access to your own private facilities and the freedom to use them whenever you want.  Villa Hansa is wonderful for families with older children, but those with toddlers will need to be vigilant given the riverside location and the many fishponds and water features.

The team of friendly staff at Villa Hansa will make children feel as welcome as adults, and having these willing helpers on hand gives guests plenty of flexibility and freedom to do their own exploring beyond the villa grounds.  Up to three hours of babysitting is included in the villa rate, but full-time babysitting incurs a small extra cost.

Although the equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals for fussy eaters or babies with ease, staff will be happy to do this for you – just talk through your requirements and meal schedules with the villa manager or cooks and they will take care of the rest.  Pancakes by the pool for breakfast?  Toasties for tea?  No problem.  The chefs will customise all meals to suit children’s taste buds.

Don’t worry about packing all that cumbersome kids’ equipment for your stay. Just let us know what you need, and anything we don’t have in-house (villa facilities include a baby cot, highchair and games) we can hire on your behalf (click here to see list of available hire items).

And when the excitement of exploring the villa starts to wear off, check out our Things to do page – there’s plenty in the area to keep all the family amused throughout the holiday.

Feel like a body scrub or massage?  Just ask our staff to bring the spa to your own room.  We can recommend deluxe treatments carried out by fully trained therapists from a reputable local spa (extra charges will apply).  Here’s a sample of what’s on the menu:

Release built up tension with a traditional Balinese massage.  Using a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body you will feel totally relaxed in no time.

    Foot reflexology

Foot reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet corresponding to every part of the body.  Through application of pressure on these reflexes tension is relieved and circulation improved leaving you feeling balanced.

    Body scrub

A full body scrub will exfoliate and hydrate your skin leaving it soft and smooth.  A rejuvenating scrub combines an abrasive material such as salt, coffee, rice bran or pecan hulls with essential oils to remove any impurities and make your skin glow.

Our hands and feet work hard for us every day but rarely get the attention they deserve.  Treat them to a manicure or pedicure, which usually comes with the added bonus of a quick hand or foot massage.

Hansa Villa has exceeded our expectations, it is so beautiful with it's landscaped garden and luxurious accommodation. The master suite makes us feel like royalty. The carved canopy is amazing, beautifully crafted by Balinese wood carvers. The ambience in the gardens is pure serenity. The running water, lily ponds and rice paddies opposite the river cocoon us in the very best Bali has to offer. All the staff are so caring and tend to our every need. They are wonderful with a month old Madison, babysitting her while her parents can sit and eat with the rest of the family. It has been so lovely together as a family. It's back to Australia. Thank you Heny and all the lovely staff

A perfect place for family holiday, there were 10 of us including a child. We had plenty of space for private and communal activities. The gardens and the Balinese touches everywhere blew us away with their beauty and tranquility. We loved the 2 pools and the pool table. A special mention must be made for the care all staff made to make our stay so special. We felt we were at home. Thank you Putu for the really wonderful food and to Made for driving us everywhere and to Henny for making sure we had everything we needed. Thank you Villa Hansa - an unforgettable holiday.

We loved our stay at the villa. This was our first time to Bali and it made quite an impression. Our family is looking forward to coming back again someday. We had our family of 5 (with 3 teenage daughters) plus my retired parents. The main living area was big and comfortable and decorated beautifully. The bedrooms were all lovely and were very roomy. The bathrooms tended to have a few insects, but was expected since they are outdoor bathrooms. The staff was amazing and catered to our every wish. We felt like they were family by the end of our week. We also enjoyed having masseuses come to give us poolside massages. The pool and poolside area was gorgeous and we enjoyed it every day.

Great pool and deck area. Bedrooms and bathrooms very comfortable. Living area a little basic and needs up dating and needs some audio equipment. Staff pleasant and helpful but could do with a little more finesse - Needs some signage, very hard for taxis to find. Over all good value.

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Hansa. It is a nice and charming villa in a quite location. The staff is very polite and made us feel at home. However, in terms of location, it is a little too far away from the beach and traffic is horrible! But in an overall, it is definitly value for money.

Villa Hansa – Canggu 7 bedroom luxury villa, Bali Elite Havens
The heavy antique gates of Villa Hansa immediately set a tone of exquisite style.  The gates open to a stone staircase flanked by fish- and lotus-flower-filled-ponds and fragrant frangipani trees.  An ancient timber joglo is repurposed to create a chic living space adorned with a stunning collection of precious Indonesian artefacts.  Ceiling-to-floor glass overlooks a lush slice of this delicious estate, and beyond to traditionally farmed rice terraces.

Seven luxurious bedrooms are spaced throughout the estate, providing an ideal arrangement for extended families or groups of friends to enjoy blissful privacy.  Expansive lawns separate the buildings, dotted with shady daybeds set within the established tropical gardens that also forge secluded spaces.

At the centre of Villa Hansa is an 16-metre swimming pool, which is crowned by an open-fronted entertainment space and bordered by sun loungers, cushioned daybeds and a freshwater shower carved from stone.  Beyond the pool a large balé with charming views of the river and surrounding rice fields houses a pool table, abundant seating and a barbecue.

The epic master suite presides over an entire wing of the villa in a converted joglo overlooking a private 12-metre swimming pool flanked with sun decks and a balé.  This suite is connected to a movie room that adjoins a timber gladak, which makes a perfect bedroom for young children.

A team of ten staff ensures seamless service while the chef prepares gorgeous Indonesian and western meals.  The manager is a spiritual guide and every full moon at Villa Hansa is celebrated with centuries old ceremonies at the riverside temple.  Guests can enjoy days of relaxation by the pool and easy strolls to the beach offering an abundance of intriguing local scenes, from farmers tending their rice fields to the making of bamboo leaf cenang offerings and children practising traditional dances.
